When you register your address at the ward office, you will also need to enroll in the National Pension System. However, on the same day as enrollment, international students can apply for an exemption from these payments at the Insurance Section. You will receive a notification of the results of your exemption application by mail. You will likely receive the bill for your premium before receiving the result of your application for exemption, but you do not have to pay until you get the results. It takes a few months to get the results after applying. You must submit an application for exemption every year.
* Please bring your student ID card (degree-seeking students) and Residence Card.
* You need to reapply for exemption in case you reregister as a resident because of the renewal of your residence card.
There is a system for the postponement of or exemption from pension payment by application.
