Departing from the University

Prepare for graduation/completion from Nagoya University by referring to the flow below.

Procedure at NU Complete departure procedures at the Student Affairs Division of your School by the specified date and inform them of your departure plans and contact address after leaving. Please obtain information on the Nagoya University Alumni Association as well.
Also, we recommend that you keep your official academic transcript, course completion certificate, university diploma, etc. as you may need them for further education or employment.
Preparing for moving out of accommodation/NU Dormitory Inform your housing manager/landlord of your moving date (About one to two months' notice for private accommodation, and at least two weeks' notice for Nagoya University Dormitories.) and pay any outstanding rent, gas, electricity and water bills.
Clean your living quarters thoroughly and remember to take out your garbage and put it in the specified area. Large waste and recyclable refuse should be disposed correctly with scheduling in several month advance.
Nagoya University International Student Service Association If the guarantor of your housing contract is the Nagoya University International Student Exchange Association, complete following procedures to cancel the Housing Contract ("Joint Surety Service for Residential Leases of the Nagoya University International Student Support Association") at least one month in advance.
① If you cancel your housing contract, you are required to submit a report to the Student Exchange Division. The report form is available at the Student Exchange Division.
② If you continue with the housing contract, you are required to change your guarantor from Nagoya University International Student Support Association to another person. The Joint Surety Service for Residential Leases of the Nagoya University expires when you graduate or leave from Nagoya University.
③ If you proceed onto another program at Nagoya University, you are not required to complete theabove procedures.
* The remainder of the insurance fee may be returned upon completion of procedures ① or ②. Please enquire at the Student Exchange Division.
Procedure at Ward Office Submit a notification of moving out and return your My Number (Notification) Card.
At the same time, cancel your National Health Insurance membership and return the membership certificate and settle your payments.
If you have applied for the Japanese National Pension System, cancel the membership showing the booklet of certificate as well.
Cancellation Procedure 【Co-op membership】
Return your Co-op membership card to the Co-op office (2F of the Hokubu-kosei-kaikan) and collect your deposit money.

【Bank account】
Take your account book and cash card to the office and complete the cancel procedures in person. In case you move inside Japan, change your registered address at the bank/post office.
JP Bank opening hours are 9:00-16:00
Other Bank opening hours are 9:00-15:00
【Mobile phone/Internet service】
If you have a mobile phone or use an Internet service, cancel the contract and settle the final payment in person. If you move inside Japan, change the registered address at the relevant company.
Change of Residence Status International students who graduate, withdraw, or transfer to another unversity are obliged by law to report to the Immigration Bureau. Please submit the notification by either one of them.
Through the Internet: Report using the Electronic Notification System.
Send by post: Obtain the necessary forms and send them by post.

【In case you stay in Japan for future study or employment】
Change your residence status in advance at the Immigration Bureau, according to the future approved activity. (Please see "Change of Residence Status" page.)

【In case you leave Japan】
Keep your Residence Card with your passport. You will be asked to return it at the point of your departure.
